Financial Protection for Older Adults

This presentation was developed as a tool for credit unions to deliver public education about financial abuse. This 30 minute presentation is a follow-up to the award winning e-course Financial Abuse of Older Adults: Recognize, Review and Respond taken by 1,500 credit union employees in Manitoba. The project was led by PEAM in collaboration with Credit Union Central of Manitoba (CUCM), Credit Union Central of Canada (CUCC), CUSOURCE: Credit Union Knowledge Network and the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC). Funding was provided by the Government of Canadaís New Horizons for Seniors Program.




Itís Not Right! Neighbours, Friends & Families for Older Adults

This resource was developed through the Federal Elder Abuse Initiative (FEAI) in partnership with Public Health Agency of Canada. The presentation materials are intended to education people about what they can do to prevent and assist older adults who may be experiencing abuse. The materials were an adaptation of the Neighbours, Friends and Families campaign focused on violence against women in Ontario.

Building Respectful Communities Presentation

Developed by the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority in partnership with the Manitoba Association of Seniors Centres, Canadian Red Cross, A&O Support Services to Older Adults & the Seniors and Healthy Aging Secretariat the Building Respectful Communities presentation provides older adults, service providers and community partners with information and resources to prevent and respond to bullying behaviour in a community setting.



Not In My Family: Raising Awareness on Elder Abuse

Developed by the Jewish Child and Family Service Not In My Family: Raising Awareness on Elder Abuse is an education tool for those interested in raising awareness about abuse of older adults. A 13 minute video and accompanying resource guide that includes questions for discussion and list of community resources. This project was funded by the Government of Canadaís New Horizons for Seniors Program.

Revera and Reel Youth Age is More Film Project

The Revera and Reel Youth Age is More Film Project is an intergenerational partnership between Revera and Reel Youth. In celebration of Manitoba Seniors' Month 2015, 10 short films, celebrating the lives of older adults have been released. These films were produced by Winnipeg area youth, who spent two weekends getting to know the older adults and creating films about how they are living life to the fullest.



Financial Abuse of Older Adults: Recognize, Review and Respond

Prevent Elder Abuse Manitoba together with the Credit Union Central of Manitoba (CUCM), Credit Union Central of Canada (CUCC), CUSOURCE: Credit Union Knowledge Network and the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) have worked together to develop an online course for credit unions across Canada to recognize financial abuse of older adults and what to do when financial abuse is suspected.



Seniors are Cool!

Eleven minute resource targeting school aged children to dispel the misconceptions about aging and older persons and to teach strategies for healthy active living and lifelong learning.
